Safety guidelines for sheet metal fabrication shops

Safety is always our #1 concern at Hansen. The safety of our manufacturing staff, office staff, and our customers is of the utmost importance.

Here are a few ways we keep our staff and customers safe, while producing high quality, on-time product every time:

We understanding correct material handling

We handle, by hand, all of the sheet metals we work with. As such, our staff is trained in proper handling of all raw and finished materials in our shop. Metal is sharp, can cause cuts if improperly handled, and can cause back and body injury if carried incorrectly. To minimize injury, we have machines to help us move some of the raw materials around.

Our shop is well ventilated

We use chemicals, lubricants, and other materials in our shop and many give off toxic fumes. All staff are required to wear breathing protection and we have an extensive exhaust system to minimize toxic fumes build up.

We are trained in our tools

Did you know that not all sheet metal manufacturing is done by machines? Occasionally we use small tools in our processes and we ensure that any staff who use them are properly trained and wearing the correct safety gear.

Our staff know safety protocols

While we do our best to prevent injury or accident, with the high volume of work we do, it occasionally happens. But we have staff on hand with first aid training and supplies, and have regular safety briefings to discuss any safety issues.

Exercising safe manufacturing practices actually makes us more efficient because there are processes in place and less chance of downtime. This means you get your parts when expected and as expected. Request information about our shop or request a quotation from our sheet metal manufacturing team.
