Lean Manufacturing and Human Connection

We’ve shared before how we use lean manufacturing processes to ensure we’re getting products to you in the most efficient way possible. But, our “technical” processes are only part of the story. Our staff is the other part of our lean processes.

Even the leanest, efficient manufacturing processes will do no good if we’re not supporting our staff to do their best. We need them on-board to make our clients’ expectations a reality.

Here’s how a happy internal culture in your business can make you more efficient:

  1. Remember people are only human. Processes and procedures don’t experience emotions in the same way that humans do. In our lean manufacturing processes at Hansen, the health and well-being of our staff is hugely important. We understand that people make mistakes, have good days, have bad days, and are pretty much always trying their best. We are sensitive to this at Hansen because our employees are our most valuable asset.
  2. Happy staff are productive staff: When you treat your staff with respect and give leniency when necessary, they become happier employees. They are then more willing to go above and beyond for your customers
  3. Show your staff that you appreciate them: When you appreciate your staff, it helps them become better at their jobs, and better at helping you grow your business. We show respect and appreciation for our work family by organizing staff team-building activities throughout the year. We also expect everyone to be treated with respect at all times.

We find that when we include the human element into our lean processes at Hansen, that we’re an overall more productive team...meaning you get your products delivered correctly and on-time. If you’d like a quote for your next sheet metal project, contact us to get started.
