Hansen Sheet Metal Design Guidelines

Quality Romero 0189 machine for shop

When metal is formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces it’s known as sheet metal. It’s a fundamental form used in metalworking and is versatile enough to be cut or bent into a variety of shapes and forms. At Hansen Industries, our strength is manufacturing precision parts with tolerances up to +/- 0.005” through the use of computer numerical controlled (CNC) equipment and traditional machery.

Tolerance

  • For materials up to 0.135” thick: Tolerance = +/- 0.005” per bend (EG: for a product with 5 bends, the tolerance should be set at +/- 0.025” or more.
  • For materials thicker than 0.135”: Tolerance = +/- 5% thickness per bend (EG: a 0.250 thick part with 5 bends, the liner dimension that cross all 5 bends should have a tolerance of (0.250” x 5%) x 5 = +/- 0.063” or more.

Hansen Industries Ltd operates a Quality Management System (QMS) that is certified by SAI Global to ISO 9001:2015 for Precision sheet metal and machines components manufacturing companies. Our acceptance levels are 99% and our On-Time Delivery is tracking at 97%.
