Common Industries Relying on Metal Fabrication

Samples of tool and die

Metal, plastic, rubber, and aluminum are just a small sample of the materials you can use to make a part or design a project. We, obviously believe that sheet metal and machined components are the best.

Today we thought we’d take a step back from our waterjet cutters and our CNC machines to look at a few niches and industries that use machined components from sheet metal.

The Energy Industry

This industry relies heavily on its machinery and transport systems to deliver energy-related products (like gas and oil) to our homes, offices, and cities. They often have many moving parts that come into contact with chemicals and heavy friction environments. Metal machined components are a strong choice in these high-stress environments.

The Transportation Industry

Sheet metal is often used to make car or train bodies. If you have a similar application where you need a machinable metal casing, sheet metal can be a great option.

Construction Materials

Ductwork and piping are common applications for sheet metal. In some building materials, it can be used to increase fire resistance.

Racing Medals

At Hansen, we’ve had the honour of creating race medals from sheet metal! For example, we support the West Coast Classic XC bike race with custom medals designed by our customer Bluefishstudio.

At Hansen, we are involved in fabricating, machining, finishing, plating, painting, silk screening, assembly, and quality control for sheet metal and machined components. In our over 40 years we have grown from a supplier of elevator replacement parts to a machining shop that creates sheet metal and machined parts for many different companies and industries.

How can your industry use sheet metal or machined parts? Send us your ideas and we’ll help you turn them into reality. Tell us about your project or part needs to get started.
