The Estimating Manager has the Authority and Responsibility for:
High Level Tasks
- hiring, managing, motivating and coaching the estimating team.
- lead a team of sheet metal and machine shop estimators by prioritizing on a daily basis the overall estimating workload and distributing the work
- train estimators in company policies, estimating strategies and Jobboss estimating methods.
- building, nurturing, and cultivating an outstanding relationship with peers
- become the voice of the estimating department across Hansen Industries departments in a matrix like responsibility chart
- make sure the customer is given Superior Customer Service as defined in “Standards of Excellence”, Quality Manual Appendix C.
- Interacting with customers relating to questions about quotations and pricing
Detailed Tasks
- Attend management huddle and represent estimating at this huddle, lead the estimating huddle, monitor workload and distribute the estimates among the estimating office.
- reviewing customer drawings and generating estimates using the estimate module. Reviewing estimates done by other estimators on a select basis;
- approving Customer purchase orders as per the Contract Review Procedure Q.P.7.2.2;
- reviewing completed jobs to assess actual times vs. estimates and adjusting manufacturing methods or prices accordingly;
- updating estimates with routing request changes;
- audit and contribute to an estimate log that keeps track of response time, win/loss ratio and tracks follow up calls. Help to establish metrics and then report against these.
- responding to phone messages, faxes and emails in a timely manner
Limits of Responsibility:
All hiring and firing must be pre-approved by the President.
Should delegate scheduling inquiries to the Shop Foreman whose shop the work is in, and Quality inquiries to the Quality Manager.
With the exception of specially designated customers, the Estimating Manager must review quotes valued over $50,000 with the Supervisor.

Skills Required:
- Proven experience in sales, estimating, or a similar leadership role within the manufacturing or job shop industry.
- Strong understanding of sheet metal, machining and stamping processes.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in ERP and familiarity with quality management practices.
- Familiarity with safe work procedures
- Min 10 years of Sales experience

This is what the Key Responsibilities are:
- Performing work on jobs according to drawings and work orders received from the Lead Hand or Foreman
- Performing a first off inspection for parts and check that die sets have been loaded correctly
- Maintaining the machine and keeping tools sharp and organized. If any tools are dull, send them to the Tool and Die shop with transfer sheet.
- When receiving materials make sure the pallets are organized and labelled correctly
- Empty pallets are to be organized by supplier names in the back-parking lot of Sheet Metal Shop
- Breaking parts when the machine is running production
- Keep their work area clean and tidy empty garbage cans and scrap bins.
- Inform the Foreman or Lead Hand of any tooling requirements
- Responsible for following Quality Procedures, Safety Procedures and Lean Procedures
What Qualifications & requirements you need?
- Prior experience programming and Running CNC punch presses (preferably Trumpf)
- Some knowledge of CNC programming and controls
- High School diploma or equivalent, plus 1-2 years of experience programming punch presses
- Technical education / classes preferred
- Ability to understand moderately complex drawings and or specifications
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot problems with Trumpf equipment
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Able to lift at least 50 lbs. on a regular basis
Shift Availability:
- Hours are from 4:00 pm to 2:30am , Monday to Thursday
- There is no transit after 12am
