How Lean Manufacturing will save you money on your next Sheet Metal Fabrication Project
We’ve been doing this for a while. We use and develop productivity and manufacturing practices that allow us to produce quality finished products in the most efficient way possible so that we can save you money.
We commonly use Synchronous Manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. Lean Manufacturing principles, for example, help eliminate waste, in various forms, within our manufacturing cycles. It’s a set of procedures and processes that we used every day at Hansen Industries and it helps us create more for our customers, with fewer resources.
Lean manufacturing aims to eliminate waste in defective product, overproduction, waiting, non-utilized talent, transportation, inventory, motion, and extra processing
We’ve developed a set of systems and processes using a 5S methodology:
- Sort: We focus on removing clutter from our office and manufacturing floor to maintain an organized, tidy environment, allowing us to find what we need faster
- Set In Order: We have organized tools, supplies, and machinery in a way that makes them easy to access when needed, eliminating travel time to get and transport materials and tools.
- Shine: To keep our equipment and tools in top working order, we regularly maintain and clean them to minimize downtime for maintenance or replacement.
- Standardize: To maintain order and keep high product and employee standards, we have developed systems and processes so we’re all working from the same protocol handbook, and our output and product quality is consistent.
- Sustain: We regularly perform trainings and skills upgrades for staff, and ensure that new staff are properly trained before beginning work, so safety and our processes are maintained.
